"Back to School" Preparations
With summer at its end and with cloud and rain invading the skies of Seattle, we start to realize that school is just around the corner and we need to prepare for the new school year.
As you prepare for school, find some helpful tips here:
-
Summer is a period for kids to have fun and play, but it is also good to take some time to read with your kids as it will help prepare them for the new school year.
-
Prepare for a shopping date with your kiddo(s). Go out and buy school supplies together. Make sure to involve them by giving them choices.
-
No more sleeping in! Get ready to start waking up early and it’s best to prepare what you can the night before. Starting your day off early is less chaotic and relaxing. It gets your family off to a great start!
-
If you are homeschooling, build up your supplies as you start the new year. Stock up on pencils, markers, crayons, highlighters and more.
-
School can sometimes be stressful for kids. Always make time to play a family game together. Play a board game, or sign up for a group activity. We always need family time.
-
Create a homework station for your children. Let them decorate it and make it their own personal space. Hang pictures, drawings and even use some cool art.
-
No backpacks on the floor! Use hooks for each child’s book bag to keep things organized.
-
A healthy tummy means a healthy mind. Mix up the lunches this year and keep it simple, healthy and tasty.
-
Create a weekly clothing schedule. To avoid a mess and having your children late, organize outfits for the entire week. Either place them to the side or hang them.
-
Plan out some easy, healthy after school snack to fill your kids just enough until dinnertime. Allow them to have some free time to let loose and relax before they hit the books.
-
Back to school means more germs and sickness. Get their flu shots done and pack up on some vitamin C.
-
On the first day of school, start your kid’s year on a special note. Surprise them with a nice gift. It doesn’t have to be fancy, it can be a book, crayons or even a pack of fun pencils. Give them something to make them smile and enjoy their first day.
Best of luck to all!
